Reflection of Editing Task
Reflection of Editing Task
During the editing task I learnt lots of new skills surrounding the program Final Cut on the apple mac.The techniques which I learnt are cutting and adding visual effects which will enhance the action of the short film. To begin, cutting, to assure that I only used the specific pieces of film which we wanted I looked at the run through and cut any unwanted footage such as bloopers, then I began to put the clips together and filtered the best camera angles form the bad camera angles.
When the film was together I smoothed the transitions from shot to shot by cutting any extra footage at the beginning or end of the shot.
Then we decided to slow down the speed of certain clips so that we could emphasise the fight scene at the end of the film. This was so that the punch looked powerful. We also added a flash effect which added to the emphasis of the punch.
Finally we decided that to show the end of a scene we would add a fade to black effect which was put at the end of the film meaning that that was the end of the footage and the end of the story. This was effective as it made sure that the audience knows exactly that the scene has ended.
When we were filming we decided from early on we need a lot of footage and a lot of angles of the same scene so that when we are editing there are no gaps. This meant that for one scene we may have had between 4-7 camera angles so the camera would be at every angle which we wanted so we would only have to shoot once. Though this was a good idea we still didn't have enough footage when it came to editing and it may have been nice to have more footage to work with.
